Since the founding in 1981 PMI has enrolled and, or graduated over 20,000 Bible and Ministry students. From humble beginnings the Lord laid out a careful plan that literally led from one open door to another. In the late 1970's, Brother Mike Johnston was involved in jail and prison evangelism where scores of incarcerated men and women were surrendering their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. By 1981 the ministry was touching lives across the State of Michigan and presenting a new set of challenges: Biblically based discipling for all the new converts. In response to prayer, the Lord made it very clear that the answer was in providing doctrinally sound correspondence Bible studies, which has been the path this ministry has followed since that time. Several years ago, after many requests, the courses were made available to free world students as well.

In 2017, Dr. Mike partnered with Dr. Ted Horton of Life Gate Baptist Church and opened the first PMI Satellite branch In that branch's first year, the Lord blessed with over 400 students, several students trusting Christ as their Saviour, and many more recommitting themselves to service for the Lord. In December of 2018, Dr. Mike went home to be with the Lord and the two ministries combined with PMI now operating out of Life Gate Baptist Church. Since then the Lord has continued to bless, with many students signing up for classes, lives being rededicated to the Lord, and many souls trusting Christ as Saviour.
